Hi, I just wanted to say I really love the game, but I have a slight problem. Is there any reason I can't pick the "you did it, Isadore" option? I've tried a few times, but it won't let me click it. It doesn't even glow like the other options when I hover my mouse over it. I could be missing a piece of evidence though.
Other than that, I have no complaints. It's a great game, and I'd love to see more done with it in the future.
First of all, we're sorry about the accusation menu being a little bugged. This was a very rushed development for a game jam and we weren't able to fix it in time. However, there's at least some advice we can give:
If you're unable to accuse Isadore, try waving your mouse back and forth over the LEFT side of the button to do so. For some reason, it's bugged from about her name rightwards.
If that fails, pick "not ready" and then talk to her again. If her accusation is already highlighted, then you can use the arrow keys and E to move and make your selection.

All in all, its a really fun game with a cool dark twist that is really interesting, and i would absolutely LOVE to see more added on to this game because i think there is a lot of potential for more dark and hilarious content. I found myself really wanting to replay and replay the game and would love to see your brilliant idea expanded upon! I and a friend of mine are aspiring indie game developers and would love to maybe work with you sometime if you'd like to! We primarily have experience in art, music, and story with some coding experience as well in Construct2 and Javascript and I would be 1000% willing to learn unity to help out with coding as well! we have lots of ideas that we think would be cool to see from a game like this, and i think many people would love to see more but we totally understand if you don't want to continue the game, it is totally your choice! It will prompt you to pick a place to extract to, and it's recommended that you don't rabbit hole too far down your files when doing so (e.g., stick with a folder, rather than a folder within a folder within a folder, etc.). Once it's complete, navigate to wherever you chose and open the folder, then run "Criminalintent.exe". If windows defender blocks it, select "more info" at the top, which will reveal a "run anyway" button at the bottom.

Hey! Mac user here. A fix to the game not starting up is to download the itch.io app and download the game through there. The app adds it to the folders needed to make the game work. Hope this helps someone out :)

I'm not 100% sure it's your problem, but that's the message you get when you try to run the .exe file still inside the ZIP archive. Are you sure you're running it from the folder you extracted it to?

hello! thank you so much for making a mac version- i pressed the 'Mac version!' button in the development log and downloaded it from there, but i think i must have downloaded the windows version somehow, because when i run it it says 'You can’t open the application “ Criminal Intent.exe” because Microsoft Windows applications are not supported on macOS.' am i missing something? is there a separate download for the mac version? let me know. thank you!
I have a windows (X1 Yoga) and was able to download and extract just fine, however when I try to run Criminal Intent, it will pop up briefly with a loading bar (as in the screenshot) and immediately disappear every time I run it. Really looking forward to the game, any advice?
Well, for one thing, that's not a loading bar. That's Unity's crash window, but I don't see any kind of error message or anything indicating what happened.
The only suggestion I have is to extract the game to a shorter directory path. Something like C:\Games\CreatureStreet instead of C:\users\yourname\downloads\chrome\creaturestreet or wherever you may have put it

I had this problem for a second, I thought it was my Dad's parental controls, but you only need to go to privacy settings. For me it wouldn't open because it wasn't by App Store or a verified Dev, but when in settings it showed that I tried opening the CS game and gave me the option to boot it! I hope that works for you, I unfortunately don't know how to permanently change the settings though D:
That's weird. What software is it? If it's just Windows saying it defended your computer by not running it, there should be a "run anyway" button at the bottom.
loved the game graphics are great and the charaters had depth to them the addition that i died at the end was the best of all endings that could had been made. 10/10 best game out there.
This was really fun to play, i really enjoyed the little story. Controls were a bit stiff, also kept getting confused with my journal. Overall a neat little parody that i think could be built into a bigger parody game.
Hey, I just downloaded the game and I tried to load it up and it gives me a "fatal error: failed to load mono" message. I have disabled Windows Defender and tried to see if that works, as well as trying to run the unity crash handler, but nothing seems to work. I have a very old computer, so maybe that's the issue. Could it just be that my computer can't run the game?
I doubt that your computer is the issue. Did you extract it to a really long folder path, by any chance? I found this suggestion from somebody else having the same error:
"I discovered another cause of this problem and solution. If your game is zipped and you extract it to a folder that is too long -- but still unzips fine -- this error can pop up. I believe it's due to the game accessing the data folder and mono.dll within its sub-folders... and somehow this access cannot be too deep in the directory structure. Move the game to a less long folder and it will work -- IF this was your problem in the first place."

If you were able to extract the files, you should see a folder called "Creature Street" where you extracted them to, then a file called "Criminal Intent" inside that folder. If Windows is saying it protected your computer, that probably means you have security settings not allowing you to launch executables from unknown sources. You should maybe be able to click "Run anyway" on that screen, or follow the directions in this video to turn it off: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gIqcSKOZTs I don't know if I recommend that. Maybe turn it back on after you play our game.

It's jaw-dropping that a wholesome game like Animal Crossing has such a twisted real world turn to it. Hilarious game, with that immature humor I just love. I'm glad you guys weren't a knock off. Bad knock offs are funny, but they're also kinda just low-res theft. Your game was definitely had comedic commentary, and it wasn't even the same game.

Very wholesome animal crossing parody! Would recommend for any animal crossing fan! Definitely NO murder and death penalty... hehe :)

Hi i'm a dummy and I really don't know how to install these kinda games what do I do after downloading the zip file?
First, you need to download a program that can extract the .zip file, I recommend WinRar: https://www.win-rar.com/postdownload.html?&L=0
After you install WinRar, right click on the .zip file and hit 'Extract'. Once it's extracted, open up the folder and launch CriminalIntent.exe
